Barcelona Join Race To Sign Osimhen As Robert Lewandowski Replacement
The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window amid Robert Lewandowski’s advancing years. So, the Nigerian centre-forward has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana.
A lot of European clubs, including Barcelona, have targeted Victor Osimhen, but according to Corriere dello Sport, the Catalans hope Napoli will lower their €75m price tag in the summer so that they can land the marquee striker.
Barcelona are among the clubs interested in signing Napoli striker Osimhen, who is currently out on loan at Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker has a €75m clause in his contract with Napoli. The deal runs out in June 2026, but the Serie A side has the option to extend it for a further campaign to avoid losing their former hero for free next year.
Nevertheless, according to Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona hopes Napoli will consider offers below Osimhen’s €75m clause next summer as the Nigerian is among their targets for 2025-26.
Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has already netted 35 goals this season, more than in any other campaign in Catalunya, but the club is reportedly looking for a long-term replacement for the 36-year-old.
According to the report, Osimhen isn’t the only Barcelona target in attack. The Catalans are also monitoring Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Sporting CP’s Victor Gyokeres, Jonathan David, and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.
Victor Osimhen has remained one of the best strikers in the world since joining Galatasaray from Napoli on a season-long loan deal last summer.
The African attacker was in limbo when the move to Chelsea failed before the Turkish champions handed him an escape route from Napoli.
The 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength during his spell with Galatasaray. Osimhen has contributed to 31 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions thus far this term, finding the back of the net 26 times while providing five assists. Meanwhile, the player’s exploits for the Turkish Super Lig champions have not gone unnoticed.
