Why Atletico Madrid Will Not Sign Cesc Fabregas
We really don’t buy this at all. Atletico has great central midfielders already in Koke, Saul, Thomas Partey and new signing Rodri. The last thing they need is an ageing, immobile Fabregas in their hard running, pressing midfield.

We’re sure there will be interest from Spain in the midfielder should he decide to leave – maybe Quique Setien’s Real Betis would be an interesting destination for the former Barcelona man. But not from Atleti. Cesc’s time playing at that kind of level is over, and he will have to accept that.
You can never be sure what a manager like Simeone is thinking, but to us, this one seems unlikely. What does seem plausible is Fabregas leaving as soon as this January. While he’s an able replacement for Jorginho, if he really wants to play he has to accept it probably won’t be here.
