As the season goes into the home stretch, a lot of players have been in exceptional form, and several youngsters have also enhanced their already blossoming reputations in world football.
Nigeria is not left out as the country’s football has experienced a significant surge in recent years, with numerous talented players making waves and significant impacts in top European leagues and global competitions.
Transfermarkt released its latest market value updates in March to reward those who have been in exceptional form, and also adjust market values for many other reasons such as age, status, and availability.
The 100 Most Valuable Football Players In The World
The world’s most valuable football player at the moment is Manchester City’s prolific striker Erling Haaland and he already has 21 Premier League goals this season.
In second place is the Brazilian wing Meastro and the only other player currently at the €200m valuation, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, who many felt should have won last year’s Ballon d’Or.
Next is Barcelona’s teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal, valued at €180 million, matching the market value of Real Madrid’s 21-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham, also worth €180 million.
Completing the top five is Bellingham’s 26-year-old teammate Kylian Mbappé, who rose by +€10m to €170m in the latest update.
In sixth position is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, whose market value stands at €150m. Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz takes seventh place at €140m, with Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, a few months Wirtz’s senior, taking eighth, also at €140m.
That pair is followed by Chelsea’s Cole Palmer at €130m, whilst Man City attacker Phil Foden completes the top 10, also at €130m.
Seven other players are worth €100m+. In the list of the top 100 world MVPs, just four players are playing for clubs outside of Europe’s top-five leagues.
Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres (37th at €75m), Galatasaray’s on-loan striker Victor Osimhen (51st at €70m), Palmeiras teenager Estêvão (70th at €55m) and Porto’s Samu Aghehowa (89th at €50m).

Fulham’s duo of Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey are in 4th and 5th position with a market value of €25m each. This makes Calvin Bassey the most valuable Nigerian defender in the world.
Nottingham’s Forest Ola Aina who has been in exceptional form all season is 6th at €20m, Club Brugge of Belgium midfield general, Raphael Onyedika is the 7th most valuable Nigerian player at €20m.
In 8th position is the ever-reliable Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City at €18m, wrapping up the top 10 most valuable Nigerian players in the world are Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest in 9th position and Nathan Tella of Bayer Leverkusen in 10th position, both valued at €18m each.
