Super Eagles Of Nigeria Move Up Five Places in Latest FIFA World Ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria moved up five places from 52nd to 47th position in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday. The ranking was published on FIFA’s official website.

The recent international friendly matches played by the Super Eagles against Poland and Serbia might have helped in pushing the Super Eagles up in the latest FIFA World Ranking.

Nigeria managed a 1-0 victory over Poland in Wroclaw before succumbing 2-0 to Serbia in London four days later in another friendly match.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are now ranked 6th in Africa behind Egypt, Morocco, Congo DR, Senegal and Tunisia who occupy the number one spot in Africa and 14th in the World.

All Nigeria’s Group D World Cup opponents dropped places in the latest FIFA World Rankings. Argentina dropped one spot to 5th, Croatia dropped three places to 18th and Iceland dropped four places to 22nd.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification Group E opponents, South Africa moved up four places to 72nd, Libya dropped a spot to 100th and Seychelles dropped three places to 194th.

In the top 10 ranking, World Champion Germany remains at the number one spot after an eventful series of international friendly matches, Brazil stayed in second, while Belgium moved two places to third, Portugal and Argentina dropped one place to fourth and fifth respectively.

Poland is the biggest losers in the top 10 as they dropped four places to 1oth. The next Coca-Cola FIFA World Ranking will be released on May 17, 2018.
