Nigerian Premier League: Enyimba Too Good For Go Round FC

Enyimba international of Aba on Wednesday evening at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar took on Go Round FC in a re-scheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match and it ended 2-0 in favour of the Aba Elephants.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was in goal for Enyimba for the fourth time this season and he kept a clean sheet for the second consecutive game, the first was in the barren draw against Wikki Tourist in Bauchi in which he was voted Man of the match for his heroics display in between the sticks for Enyimba.

The first half of the encounter ended goalless as both teams struggled to take control of the game. On resumption of the second period, Enyimba took the lead in the 51st minute through Joseph Osadiaye who connected with a fine header following an inch-perfect cross from Abdulrahman Bashir.

Joseph Osadiaye, scorer of the first goal for the Aba Elephants has endured an epileptic season as he has been in and out of Enyimba’s first team as a result of an injury he picked up during pre-season.

Abdulrahman Bashir added the second goal in the 62nd minute as he was set-up by Ibrahim Mustapha, the second goal killed any hope or dream of Go Round going back to Omuku with a point.

Enyimba is now sixth, after moving two places up the NPFL table. The Aba Elephants have 26 points from 16 games and with two games in hand.

Go Round is now 18th down one place in the NPFL table with 19 points from 17 games and with one game in hand, the boys from Omuku are now in the relegation zone and must improve massively if they are to survive in the NPFL.
