October NPFL Dates After the International Break and Who Needs Points First
The 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League is still in its opening block, but October already looks like the month when the early table starts to mean something.
Nigeria face Madagascar on 25 September and Guinea-Bissau on 29 September, leaving a short gap before the next NPFL round on 3–4 October.
For anyone following match prices through vippari, that timing matters because form, home advantage and short turnarounds can all move a price.
Doma United lead with nine points from three matches, Barau have eight from four, and Rivers United have six from two.
The Early Table Is Already Split
Doma have won all three matches, scored five goals and conceded none, including a 2–0 home win over Enyimba on 12 September.
Barau remain unbeaten after a 0–0 draw at Ikorodu City on 19 September, which moved them to eight points from four games.
Rivers United have taken six points from two, beating Plateau United and Warri Wolves 2–0.
Ranchers Bees and Bendel Insurance have six from four, Ikorodu City five from three, while Rangers and Kano Pillars both have four from two.
At the bottom, Enyimba and Warri Wolves have zero points from two matches, while Inter Lagos have zero from three.
The First October Weekend Sets the Tone
Matchday 7 begins on 3 October with Doma United hosting Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars facing Sporting Lagos.
On 4 October, Enyimba host Plateau United, Rivers United welcome Ikorodu City, Rangers face Abia Warriors and Bendel Insurance play Barau.
The same round includes Niger Tornadoes against Kun Khalifat, Shooting Stars against Nasarawa United, Kwara United against Ranchers Bees and Inter Lagos against Katsina United.
A postponed Matchday 3 fixture follows on 7 October, when Shooting Stars host Kano Pillars.
Matchday 8 comes on 10–11 October, with further rounds on 17–18 October and 24–25 October.
By then, some games in hand should be gone, and the table will be easier to compare.
Which Clubs Need October Points Most?
Enyimba have the clearest problem. They face Plateau United at home on 4 October, Katsina United away on 11 October and Warri Wolves at home on 18 October.
After losing their first two matches, they need points before the gap grows.
Doma face a different test. Three wins are an excellent start, but still a small sample.
Warri Wolves at home on 3 October looks favourable, while later fixtures will show whether that form holds away from home.
Rivers United have two wins and two clean sheets, but have played fewer matches than Doma and Barau.
Their home game against Ikorodu City on 4 October is one of October’s best early indicators.
Barau already have points on the board, but they have also played more games than several rivals.
Their unbeaten run will be tested as Rivers, Rangers and others catch up.
October Changes How the Market Reads Form
Early NPFL betting markets need more than the league table.
Six points from two matches is not the same sample as eight from four. Home and away form, games in hand and recovery time after international fixtures all matter when reading 1X2, handicap and totals markets.
That is why checking updated team information through vippari apk can be more useful than simply following the previous score.
A home favourite can shorten after a strong start, but the price may change once line-ups, rest, and travel are confirmed.
The main checks are simple:
- compare points per game, not only total points;
- separate home and away records;
- check games in hand;
- wait for confirmed squads after short turnarounds;
- avoid pricing three matches like a full-season trend.
Enyimba are the obvious example. Their reputation does not cancel out a zero-point start, so backing them purely on name would ignore current form.
Doma are the reverse: three wins deserve attention, but an unbeaten home record should not automatically be carried into an away price.
October Will Make the Table Clearer
The first month creates distorted comparisons because clubs have played different numbers of games. October starts removing that excuse.
Doma and Barau already have points. Rivers United and Rangers have fewer matches behind them. Enyimba have ground to recover.
By the end of the 3–4, 10–11, 17–18 and 24–25 October rounds, the table should tell a clearer story.
The title will not be decided, but the difference between an early surprise and a genuinely strong start will be much easier to see.
