Nigeria and Man City striker, Kayode Olarenwaju has been nominated for Ukrainian club, Shakhtar Donetsk player of the month award for April.
Kayode who was in good form in the month of April is nominated alongside three of his Shakhtar Donetsk teammates; Goncalves dos Santos, Marlos Romero and Taison Barcelos for the club’s monthly player award.
In August 2017, Kayode Olarenwaju signed a four-year contract with Manchester City. Kayode spent the first half of the current season on loan at Girona FC in the Spanish La Liga. In March 2018, the striker moved to Shakhtar Donetsk and the current loan deal is effective until the end of the season and it includes a buyout option.
The former Maccabi Netanya of Isreal and Austria Wien of Austria player was voted man of the match in Shakhtar Donetsk’s 1-0 league win against Mariupol last week Friday after he scored the only goal of the match. The striker has scored two goals in four matches for the Ukrainian club.
Shakhtar Donetsk is at the top of the Ukrainian League standings with 69 points, three above fierce rivals Dynamo Kiev with three games remaining before the end of the season.
Paulo Fonseca’s men will play fourth-place Zorya in their next league game on Saturday before they clash with rivals Dynamo Kiev in the final of the Ukrainian Cup on May 9 at the Dnipro Arena.
