Japan vs Paraguay International Friendly At Tivoli Stadion, Tirol. Time: 14:05

Japan will play their final warm-up friendly on Tuesday against Paraguay. This match is to prepare the Japanese team ahead of their encounter with Colombia at the World Cup, which would surely be a huge task for the Blue Samurai.

They’ve got a chance, having landed in the most open of all eight World Cup groups. However, Japan still appears as outsiders compared to Poland and Colombia, and possibly Senegal. The form of the Blue Samurai has been terrible and something needs to be done urgently to remedy the situation.

Japan have to wait until next Tuesday for their World Cup opener, which comes against Colombia. However, there’s not much comparison between the side they’ll meet in Saransk and this Paraguay outfit.

Their opponents this week have lost back to back games ahead of this friendly, which is just their second since they failed to qualify for the Mundial in Russia.

Paraguay lost to the USA back in March, and they are currently undergoing a rebuilding process, this match will afford the Paraguayan coach the opportunity to try out new players as he continues to tinker with the team and formation in an attempt to rebuild the team for future challenges.

Paraguay have lost their previous six friendlies, while they suffered defeat on eight occasions as they pushed for the World Cup. They lost five of their last eight to finish below the World Cup qualification places, and the national side has been struggling of late. This seems like a chance for the Japanese to turn around their form, which is equally poor.

Japan risk heading into the World Cup winless in eight matches, with a string of poor results in 2018. Ghana and Switzerland have both beaten them on the eve of the World Cup, while Japan lost to Ukraine and drew with Mail earlier this year.

The Japanese team have failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous nine games, recording just one shut-out in their previous 12, which dates back to the tail end of their qualifiers.

Paraguay conceded 25 goals in their qualifying campaign, while they’ve also managed one clean sheet in their last 12 matches. However, they should be confident of grabbing a goal against the Japanese and their poor defensive set-up.

Japan has found the back of the net in 13 of their last 16 friendly matches, so they will equally fancy themselves getting a goal. It doesn’t seem that this match will have a winner, so we will go with the goals market and our prediction is “Under 3.5 goals” at fulltime.

Poland vs Lithuania International Friendly At Stadion Narodowy, Warszawa. Time: 17:00

Poland head into Tuesday’s game looking to get a win under their belt ahead of their World Cup opener against Senegal. The Polish team will be hoping to finish their preparations for Russia with a victory, especially against a low profile opponent like Lithuania.

Poland is in with a chance of winning Group H, especially as their main rivals are Colombia. However, their 2-2 draw with Chile last week seemed like a setback. They haven’t been fantastic warming up for the tournament, so their final game needs to go well.

The game plan of the Polish team in major tournaments has been to sit back and soak up the pressure, so they will surely need to return to that style here. Their tournament clashes are likely to be tight, so the Poles will need a strong set up at the back.

Lithuania head here following a defeat to another side who made it to the tournament, as they lost 1-0 against Iran at the weekend. That followed a draw with Latvia and a loss to Estonia, so they’re likely to struggle against a Poland side who dominated their group.

The hosts won all of their home matches on their way to Russia, while they were unbeaten at home on their way to Euro 2016. Will they follow up that impressive run by claiming a victory here?

Lithuania only managed to beat Malta in their qualifying campaign, as they picked up five of their six points in the opening three games. They lost six of their last seven matches, losing to England in their final game. That record doesn’t bode well, neither does their head to head with Poland. Lithuania has lost five of their eight trips to Poland, and that poor streak may continue.

Poland are heavy favourites, and we can see why. They’ve got a strong record at their own ground, while Lithuania are poor travellers. The away side have lost seven of their last nine away trips, and those defeats have all been to nil.

Their poor scoring record saw them lose without scoring in five of their six defeats in the World Cup qualifiers, however, the last friendly between these two teams ended goalless in June 2016, so we will be a bit conscious in making our prediction. We will go for a double chance combo, which is “Poland win or draw and under 4.5 goals at fulltime”.
