Lillestrom vs Stromsgodset, Norway – Eliteserien, At Åråsen Stadion Time: 17:00 

Things haven’t exactly been going swimmingly at Lillestrom of late; the hosts come into this fixture just a point above the drop-zone, while they’ve won just one of their last six matches.

However, on a more positive note, they are unbeaten in three. Having scored twice away at Haugesund last time out, Arne Erlandsen’s men should fancy themselves to continue doing well offensively.

In terms of their league position, Stromsgodset is also having a relatively poor campaign, though they have improved of late. The visitors will arrive at Åråsen Stadion having won each of their last two matches, both of which have seen them keep a clean sheet, while they’re now unbeaten in four. Such form bodes well, although they will probably need to pull out more than when last seen on the road.

On recent form, the visitors appeal as the likely winners of this fixture, though if we dig a little deeper, it’s much easier to make a case for the hosts, who’ve quietly gone about their business on home soil of late.

Stromsgodset does arrive here having won three of their last four in all competitions, but all three of those wins have come on their own patch, where they are a handy side.

However, it’s been a different story on the road. Bjorn Petter Ingebretsen’s men have been far too open when playing away from home; they may have scored a few goals, but any attacking success has almost always been negated by defensive weakness.

As their recent away form suggests, the visitors have struggled to put their best foot forward on the road this season. They’ve lost four of their seven away matches and have won just one of the other three, scoring eight goals and conceding a rather miserable 14 in the process.

What’s more, they’re without a clean sheet away from home this season, while their recent 1-1 draw against an IK Start teawho’sre bottom of the pile and struggling didn’t exactly paint them in the most favourable light offensively either.

In contrast, Lillestrom have been defending well at home of late; they’ve not often gone mad in terms of goals scored, scoring just five in six home matches, though they’ve performed as though they could easily thrive against an open side such as Stromsgodset.

Having conceded just four goals at home this season, keeping a clean sheet in 50% of their matches at Åråsen Stadion, the hosts have also defended admirably.

If they can continue to keep things tight, much as they have done in each of their last three in front of a home crowd, then Lillestrom should be able to profit against a visiting team who simply cannot keep the door shut on their travels. Our main prediction is “Under 4.5 goals” at fulltime.
