CAF Confederation Cup Result: Plateau United, Akwa United And MFM Walk Tight Rope
All Nigerian clubs competing in the CAF Confederation Cup except for Enyimba of Aba are walking a tightrope as their qualification into the lucrative group stages of the competition is hanging in the balance after unfavourable and unconvincing play-off round first leg results.
Plateau United managed to secure a slim 2-1 victory over visiting USM Alger at the Agege Stadium which is serving as a temporary home ground for them.
Former Junior international King Osanga and Emmanuel James got the goals for Plateau United, while Hamia was on target for USM Alger.
The Algerian team is very formidable at home and it will take something of a miracle for Plateau United to survive the onslaught in Algiers when the return leg is played in two weeks time.

Akwa United went down to a 2-0 defeat against Sudanese club Al Hilal in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup play-off tie played in Omdurman on Sunday.
Akwa United conceded both goals in the first half and were unable to reduce the deficit in the second half, they will hope to overturn the deficit in the return leg in Uyo at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
MFM FC’s dream to make it to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup competition suffered a monumental set back as they were humiliated 1-0 by Djoliba of Mali at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.
Mahamadou Cisse’s 78th-minute second-half strike was all that was needed to put the visitor’s in firm control of the playoff tie. The chances of MFM getting the needed result in Bamako is quite slim.
