Taiwo Awoniyi Nominated For EPL Player Of The Month Award

Nigeria Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been nominated for the EPL Player of the Month award for August.

After a slow start to life back in England, Taiwo Awoniyi is now firmly among the Premier League’s toughest strikers to pin down.

The Nigeria international ended the 2022/23 season with 10 goals in 27 league games as Nottingham Forest staved off relegation, and he’s started the new campaign in fine form.

Awoniyi scored in each of Forest’s three Premier League matches in August, including in narrow defeats away at Arsenal and Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has scored three goals, and he provided the assist for Anthony Elanga’s winner in the game against Chelsea before the international break.

Also nominated is Manchester City midfielder Rodri. He has scored two goals and provided one assist as City maintain their lead with four wins at the top of the table.

Jarod Bowen (Westham), James Maddison (Tottenham), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), and Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) also make the list.

For the manager of the month, Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), David Moyes (West Ham), and Ange Postecoglou (Tottenham) have been nominated.

The public votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be announced next week.

The fans have until 12:00 BST on Monday 11 September to pick their favourite via the EA SPORTS website.
