Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United, England – Premier League, At The Amex Stadium. Time: 20:15
Brighton clinched another potentially crucial point away to Leicester last week in a rather drab goalless draw at the King Power Stadium, but we’re predicting a bit more action on Tuesday as they host a Manchester United side hunting for a spot in the Premier League top four.
That result leaves Brighton some six points above the relegation zone but, with seven games remaining in the season, there is still plenty of time for this to change. With matches against Liverpool and Manchester City still to play and potential six-pointers against Norwich and Southampton, there is plenty of interest left in The Seagulls’ season.
One thing you can’t fault Graham Potter for is just how difficult he’s made this Brighton side to beat. They have lost just 12 Premier League games this season – no side in the bottom half has lost fewer – and only three of their last 12 outings have ended in defeat.

However, only Arsenal and Wolves have played out more stalemates than The Seagulls, and if they do get relegated this season the finger will be pointed at this inability to actually win games. Seven of their last 11 in the league have ended all square, including three of their last five at the Amex Stadium.
It’s unlikely the hosts can add to their win tally on Tuesday either. They face a resurgent Manchester United side unbeaten in the league in seven matches and, with only five points between them and the top four, every point counts for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men right now.
However, similarly to their opponents, The Red Devils have found it difficult to claim all three points this term, especially away from home. In fact, they have won just four of their 15 Premier League road trips this season, drawing on five occasions and losing the remaining six matches.
This is largely thanks to a rather leaky backline. Manchester United have improved defensively recently, but their shakiness on the road has persisted. They have claimed just two shutouts away from home this season, and they’re facing a Brighton side that has scored in 11 of their 15 home matches.
Keeping Manchester United’s reinvigorated strikeforce out at the other end is a different matter entirely, though. Bruno Fernandes’s arrival has lifted the entire squad to another level and, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood alongside him, they are beginning to look a really potent attacking force.
With this in mind, plus the fact that Brighton has kept just one clean sheet in their last nine home league games, backing both teams to score on Tuesday looks a well-priced option.
We’re also looking towards another Seagulls stalemate for our correct score prediction. Three of their last five home games and two-thirds of their home games in total have ended in 1-1 draws while Manchester United have also played out four 1-1 draws on the road, so that’s what we’re opting for.
If you’re in the market for a goalscorer option you could do a lot worse than backing Manchester United’s in-form Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman is thriving in the central striker role at the moment and bagged his first Manchester United hat-trick against Sheffield United last week, boosting his confidence further.
He has now scored six goals in Manchester United’s last six league games and, for the first time in years, Martial looks like he’s enjoying his football. He looks the best option for a pick in the anytime goalscorer market.
Centre-half Adam Webster is unlikely to feature having been withdrawn in the Seagulls’ last game against Leicester with a hamstring complaint.
Ex-Chelsea youngster Tariq Lamptey, who played well on his Brighton debut last week, should retain his spot at right-back.
Pascal Gross who scored in each of Brighton’s meetings with Manchester United at the AMEX Stadium in the last two seasons is one to watch in midfield.
Brighton predicted line-up: Ryan – Lamptey, Duffy, Dunk, Burn, – Propper, Bissouma, Gross, Trossard, Mooy – Maupay
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rested several key players in the FA Cup on Saturday, though Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford are all likely to be drafted back into the XI against Brighton.
Elsewhere, Solskjaer has decisions to make in central midfield with Fred, McTominay, and Matic potentially vying for one place, while Greenwood and James will slug it out for a spot on the right-wing.
Manchester United predicted line-up: De Gea – Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw – Matic, Pogba, James, Fernandes, Rashford – Martial
Prediction: Our prediction is a +2 goals Handicap advantage for Brighton & Hove Albion, this means Brighton & Hove Albion wins if they do not lose by more than a single goal difference.
