Manchester City bounced back from their first Premier League defeat of the season last weekend with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Everton at the Etihad, and there morale was boosted even higher as Kevin De Bruyne returned from injury in midweek to help his side progress in the Carabao Cup against Leicester.

That was a heavily rotated side which beat Leicester on penalties, and De Bruyne could be rested for this clash to avoid any further injury. However, there will be plenty of fresh legs on Saturday despite the short turnaround time, and fatigue is unlikely to be a factor for the hosts.

The Citizens’ defeat to Chelsea did put a dent in their ambitions of retaining the Premier League, seeing them lose their lead to the as yet unbeaten Liverpool.
