The top two teams in Group E meet at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday, as four-time world champions Germany take on the Ivory Coast in their second match of the 2026 World Cup.
These teams have met only once before, drawing 2-2 in a friendly in November 2009. Lukas Podolski scored both goals for Germany, including a last-minute equaliser.

After missing the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, the Ivory Coast started this tournament with a 1-0 win over Ecuador last Monday, scoring late to secure all three points.
The Ivory Coast’s fast attackers could trouble Nagelsmann’s defense, but Germany’s creative strength may prove too much for their opponents.
