Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Held To A Draw By Guinea Bissau
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria were forced to a 2-2 draw by the Young Djurtinhos of Guinea Bissau in a first round, first leg qualification match played at the September 24 National Stadium in Bissau on Saturday evening.
The Flying Eagles got off to a blistering start as Enyimba’s striker Wasiu Alalade opened the scoring in the 28th minute of the encounter to silence the expectant home fans.
The Flying Eagles continued to dictate and dominate proceedings at the September 24 National stadium, and the efforts of Paul Aigbogun tutored side yielded further dividend in the 38th minute as Wasiu Alalade was on hand to scores his second goal of the encounter to make the score 2-0 in favour of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria. The score remained 2-0 as the teams went into the halftime break.

On resumption of the second stanza, the Young Djurtinhos of Guinea Bissau found their rhythm and took control of the game and in the 54th minute the home team pulled a goal back to make the score 2-1, the goal galvanised the fans and gave them the belief that their team could get something out of the game.
Guinea Bissau continued to probe dangerously at the vital area of the Flying Eagles and after some sustained pressure, the Flying Eagles defence calved in and conceded the equalising goal in the 63rd minute to the delight of the home fans.
The game ended 2-2 as both teams could not convert their chances, the Flying Eagles would hope to consolidate on the away draw when both teams face off again in Nigeria for the return leg in two weeks time. The four semi-finalists at Niger 2019 CAF U-20 Africa Nations Cup will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup same year in Poland.
