Enyimba Starts Group Stage Of CAF Confederation Cup With A Win

Enyimba started the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup on a winning note as they defeated Malian side Djoliba 2-0 at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Sunday.

The first half of the encounter in Calabar was a very drab affair as none of the teams was able to get a firm grip on the game. However, on the resumption of the second half Isiaka Oladuntoye opened scoring for the home team Enyimba just 3 minutes after the break through a thumping shot following a corner kick which the Djoliba defence failed to deal with.

Substitute Stanley Dimgba doubled the lead for the People’s Elephant in the 80th minutes when he converted from the spot after Freedom Omofoman was fouled inside the box by a Djoliba defender.
The other Group C match between Williamsville AC of Cote d’Ivoire and CARA of Congo Brazzaville ended 1-0 in favour of the Ivorian club, with these results Enyimba is top of Group C on goal difference ahead of Williamsville, while Djoliba is at the bottom of the group.

Paul Aigbogun’s Enyimba will play away to CARA Brazzaville of Congo in their next group match on May 15.
