Barcelona dropped points for the first time this season on Sunday evening and they will be hungry to bounce back on Wednesday as they head to the capital to take on Leganes in a ‘top vs bottom’ clash. The Madrid minnows have made a slow start to life under Mauricio Pellegrino and the odds are clearly stacked against them here as they look to climb out of La Liga’s relegation zone.

Leganes were always likely to find life difficult after Asier Garitano’s emotional goodbye at the end of last season and so it has proved. The sale of key midfielder Gabriel on the eve of this season didn’t help matters and their return of 1 point from 5 matches is the worst in La Liga so far and they come into this game on the back of three straight defeats.

Barcelona had a 100% record in all competitions heading into this weekend but that went as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Catalan rivals Girona at Camp Nou. It could have been worse too with Ernesto Valverde’s 2-1 down and playing with 10 men after Clement Lenglet’s early red card but they did show plenty of spirit to fight back and they at least retain top spot in the Spanish top flight heading into match-day 6.

It’s hard really to look past an away win here given the gulf in quality that exists. Leganes look like they could be in big relegation trouble this season and already they seem to have settled for a very defensive approach. That makes sense with one or two key men still out and it’s certainly the way they will approach this game.

Barcelona may have to be patient and they won’t panic if this one is still level at the break. They’ve been leading at the interval in only one of their last six away matches in La Liga and made a habit of wearing their opposition down before going in for the kill in the final stages the last term.

Leganes’ last two matches have been goalless at Half-Time but have ended in them losing 1-0 and there is a reason to think backing Draw/Barcelona HT/FT could be worth a punt here.

Going for Barcelona & Under 3.5 Goals also looks good. The Catalans have been pretty disappointing in their two away matches so far but have found a way to scrape narrow wins at Valladolid and Sociedad and they’ll be content to do likewise here during a really busy stage in the season with games coming thick and fast.

Backing Ousmane Dembele to score anytime also looks good. The Frenchman has been on fire so far this season and has netted in 4 of his last 5 appearances. The odds for him to score here seem generous in comparison to some of Barca’s other attacking players who haven’t been as threatening this term. Our main prediction for this match is an away win for Barcelona.
