Brann headed into the mid-season break on top of the Norwegian Eliteserien and with high hopes of winning just their second title since 1963.

The mid-season break came at quite a good time for Brann you’d have to say. They started this campaign in stunning form but hit a real sticky patch with just 2 wins in 8 matches in all competitions. One of those was a key win at Rosenborg but their most recent home game ended in a shock 4-0 defeat against Molde.
It was an utterly remarkable opening 21 minutes which saw 18-year-old forward Erling Håland score four times for the visitors against a side that had until that point looked rock solid at the back in front of their own fans.
We may well look back upon that as a freak occurrence and it’s hard to see any repeat of that from this Start side. They find themselves second bottom but have given themselves a better shot at beating the drop, with wins in 2 of their last 3 matches and 10 points from their last 6 Eliteserien outings.
Worryingly for them though is that all of those 10 points came at home. On the road this season they’ve been dreadful and it’s difficult to see how they are going to get anything from this match.
Start have the worst away record in the division with just 0.14 points per game away and ominously for them they’ve played two fewer away matches than they have at home and a defeat ratio of 86% on the road simply has to fall if they are to stand any chance of beating the drop.
Brann, by contrast, have an excellent home record besides that one nightmare opening twenty minutes against Molde. They have got a 71% clean sheet ratio in front of their own fans overall this season in the Eliteserien and will hope that they’ve ironed out the issues which caused them a few problems before the summer break.
Brann up against a Start side that has scored just 0.29 goals per game away on average this term, backing Brann to Win to Nil looks like a decent bet here. The main prediction for this match is home team to win.
