AFCON 2023: Nwabali Fit To Face Angola

Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has been cleared to feature for the Super Eagles against Angola in their quarter-final tie at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday.

There were fears the Chippa United safe hands could miss the clash with the Palancas Negras after sustaining a mild ligament injury in Nigeria’s Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon last Saturday.

The Chippa United shot-stopper has now recovered fully from the injury. Nwabali however took part in the team’s training session on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 27-year-old has also been cleared by the team’s medics to face Pedro Goncalves’ men.

Nwabali has conceded just once in four appearances for the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles will take on the Palancas Negras of Angola in a quarter-final tie at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan.

Meanwhile, captain Ahmed Musa and Bright Osayi-Samuel have been ruled out of the game.

Musa injured his thigh in training this week, while Osayi-Samuel is nursing a knee injury. Musa is yet to make an appearance for the Super Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire.
