Nigerian Premier League: Kwara United Part Ways With Coach John Obuh Over Poor Results

Nigeria Professional Football League club Kwara United have announced the sacking of their technical adviser John Obuh. The management of the Harmony Boys according to information released through their Twitter handle, took the decision following the team’s poor run of form in the NPFL this season. Kwara United are currently bottom of the table with 11 points from 12 games.

The club’s top management handed coach John Obuh a three-match ultimatum to turn around the fortunes of the team or face the exit door following a 1-0 home defeat against Rivers United on match day 10. The Ilorin based club have however recorded one defeat and a draw since the ultimatum.

John Obuh, who has coached Nigeria’s U-17 and U-20 teams, last game in charge of Kwara United was Sunday’s match day 12 game against El-Kanemi Warriors which ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Obuh brought the club back to the top flight last term after two seasons in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League. Coach John Obuh becomes the second coach to be relieved of his duties in the NPFL in this current campaign after Niger Tornadoes sacked veteran coach Erasmus Onu earlier in the season.

The management of Kwara United is expected to appoint a new technical adviser in the coming days with former Niger Tornadoes coach Abubakar Bala said to be the likely successor to John Obuh.
