Club Friendly: Sadiq Umar Scores On His Debut As Glasgow Rangers Thrash Wigan 3-0

Sadiq Umar scored on his debut for Glasgow Rangers as Steven Gerrard’s team finished their pre-season preparations off in style as his much-changed Rangers side swept aside Championship opposition Wigan 3-0 at Ibrox on Sunday.

Goals from Alfredo Morelos, Nikola Katic and Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar wrapped up the impressive victory ahead of Rangers’ Europa League second leg clash against Osijek on Thursday night.

Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham was also on hand to deny Will Grigg from the spot to condemn Paul Cook’s side ahead of the new season.

English born Nigerian player on loan from Liverpool Ovie Ejaria broke from midfield to spread the ball wide to Candeias. The Portuguese’s cross was deflected before Sadiq rose highest to score on his debut for the Gers.

The Latics were awarded a penalty after Jamie Walker went down under the challenge of Glenn Middleton inside the area but Grigg was unable to grab a consolation on a poor afternoon for the Championship side.

Rangers will now look ahead to their second leg in the Europa League later on this week.
