Champions League Preview: Manchester United Vs PSG
Manchester United hosts PSG at Old Trafford in the biggest derby of the day in the Champions League group stage. These two teams will face each other at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Let’s preview it in our free soccer predictions for today.
Three points separate these two teams at this moment. Manchester United are leading the group standings with 9 points while PSG follows with 6. In the beginning, we thought PSG are the biggest favourites to win this group, but now the Red Devils are one step ahead of them.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team surprised many people by beating PSG in Paris in the first round of the group stage. Maybe you remember what happened at the Parc des Princes – Anthony Martial scored himself an own goal, but United took the three points with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. This win is the main reason why United are currently ahead of PSG in the standings.
Manchester United are showing improved form lately. The English giants won their last four matches in all competitions which really works well for their confidence. During the weekend they were close to a negative result against Southampton, but the new signing Edinson Cavani made the difference with two goals in the second half.
The former PSG striker proved he’s still lethal despite being 33-years old. El Matador also provided an assist for Bruno Fernandes’ goal against the Saints. So far it looks like Cavani is going to be an influential signing at the Theatre of Dreams.
PSG approach this fixture on Wednesday after a negative result in the French Ligue 1. Thomas Tuchel’s team didn’t win in a second consecutive game in the League. This time PSG hosted Bordeaux at the Parc des Princes, but the match ended without a winner – 2-2. Neymar from a penalty kick and Moise Kean scored for the champions, but PSG’s defense didn’t hold up.
Most likely Thomas Tuchel will be doing some changes against Manchester United on Wednesday. Against Bordeaux, he used Angel Di Maria, Mauro Icardi, and Ander Herrera from the bench while Idrissa Gueye didn’t play at all. We won’t be surprising if Tuchel had some plans for them regarding the game on Wednesday.
Last week PSG secured a key win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League. Les Parisiens really needed the three points in this game and they did it. Neymar scored the winning goal from a penalty kick after just 11 minutes of playing. This win allowed PSG to overtake Leipzig and move to second place in the table.
These are our free soccer predictions for today for the Champions League clash between Manchester United and PSG. For the Red Devils this is a fine chance to win this group and finish first, but make no mistake here – the French side is having the same ambitions in mind.
