CAF Confederation Cup: Enyimba Secure Vital Away Draw At Bidvest Wits
Enyimba international of Aba enhanced their chance of reaching the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup by securing a vital 1-1 away draw against Bidvest Wits of South Africa in the first leg fixture of the play-off round at the Bidvest Stadium, Johannesburg on Friday night.
The South African team took an early lead in the 3rd minute of the encounter through Daniel Klate following a horrible defensive mix up by the Enyimba’s backline.
However, the lead lasted for just two minutes before Ibrahim Mustapha equalised for Enyimba, by placing the ball past goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs in goal for Bidvest Wits. The game ended at one goal apiece in the first half.

In the second half, Frosler almost gave Bidvest Wits the lead just after the restart but his goal-bound strike was cleared off the line by Isiaka Oladuntoye.
The South African team continued to pile pressure on Enyimba and in the 55th minute they almost took the lead again and it took the intervention of Enyimba’s goalkeeper Fatau Dauda to deny Eleazar Rodgers.
Rodgers again drew out a fantastic save from Dauda in the 77th minute as the Clever Boys desperately searched for the second goal.
Enyimba’s duo Reuben Ogbonnaya and Bashir were booked in the 75th and 81st minutes respectively for time wasting.
