10-Man Rivers United Overcomes Congo’s Motema Pembe In CAF Confederation Cup

Rivers United, Nigeria Professional Football League champions produced a gutsy away performance in their third group stage game of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, overcoming Congolese side, Motema Pembe 1-0 in Angola.

Paul Acquah’s solitary strike in the 53rd minute of the encounter after they had been reduced to 10 men before the end of the first half was enough to secure victory for the Stanley Eguma side.

The Ghanaian winger found the net from a rebound after his initial header off Denis Ndasi’s flick was blocked by the Congolese club keeper.
